This past weekend we went for a hike with the Gharsts up in Julian. Although it doesn't compare with the firey maples of the northeast it was beautiful in a different way. I love that kind of silence where all you can hear is the wind blowing and the wide fields of high golden grass. We managed to find several piles of fresh as well as petrified dung on our hike and spotted a few grazing cattle staring at us from afar. (look carefully in the black and white photo).
