A special weekend for the birthday boy...

We celebrated Rob's 40th birthday this past weekend. Rob's sister, Lisa flew out as well as my brother. I threw him a surprise (sort of) party with about 25 of his friends at one of his favorite local places, Urge. We spent the rest of the weekend hiking Torrey Pines and enjoying the beach.

Fun at the park...

Another fun afternoon playing at the park!

The Turkey Trot-athon

So Jaedyn had a fundraiser at his school a few weeks ago which involved doing laps around the school track. He raised $125 for the physical education department of his school by running 5 and a half laps around the track in 15 minutes (5.2 laps is a mile). I was so proud of him and it really did make me smile to see him so excited about this. He knew that people were paying for him to run and he really did his best which made me happy (and he was even sick!). A huge thank you to Grammy and Pop Brill, Grampy and Barbara Crockett, Nana Crockett, Auntie Lisa Crockett and Greg and Allison Gharst for supporting him.

Halloween Part 2

We decided to stay in our neighborhood this year for Halloween night. We trick or treated with one of Jaedyn's buddies from school (spider man) and as we went around our neighborhood we picked up a few more kids from his class. Jaedyn decided to can the ghost costume and instead was a storm trooper from Star Wars (he had a mask, but again couldn't see anything in the dark).

Playing catch up...Halloween Part 1

Sorry for the delay on the Halloween pictures. I have been so busy with photo sessions, editing and posting those on my business blog I haven't had any time to keep up with this blog. Anyway...here's a peak at Halloween. Ashlyn wanted to be a princess and Jaedyn wanted to be a ghost. We went to a Halloween fair at a local Church with our neighbors. Jaedyn and Ashlyn rode the ponys which was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I'm laughing out loud just thinking about it. When the guy put Jaedyn on his horse his ghost costume twisted a little so Jaedyn couldn't really see. I was in hysterics..the kind where you are laughing so hard you are crying. Anyway.. it was fun, but didn't stay too long because it was a mad house.

To Julian we go!

This past weekend we went for a hike with the Gharsts up in Julian. Although it doesn't compare with the firey maples of the northeast it was beautiful in a different way. I love that kind of silence where all you can hear is the wind blowing and the wide fields of high golden grass. We managed to find several piles of fresh as well as petrified dung on our hike and spotted a few grazing cattle staring at us from afar. (look carefully in the black and white photo).

The ballerina--ing has finally kicked in!

So we are several weeks in to this ballet/tap class and so far I haven't been too convinced that it's the thing for Ashlyn. I think she'd do better in a gymnastics class where there's more runnning, tumbling and jumping around. I think she takes after me in the flexibility and grace department which means she definitely won't be a ballerina. Anyway...this week was a huge improvement (the peach body suit). She actually participated and jumped and even attempted a toe touch! She did great!
